When I first started crocheting I never thought I'd have gotten as good as I did, as quickly as I did. But here we are. (hahaha)

After learning how to make Granny Squares, I made my first ever blanket and it only took me 6 weeks to finish. Then I decided to make a blanket for each of my children. So my first blanket was mostly a bunch of double crochet and a new stitch that I'm still unsure of the name. My next blanket was for my youngest daughter and I had found the perfect pattern. It was a Corner to Corner Ombre Throw, and I fell in love with it. So, I took my daughter to Walmart with me and let her pick out her own yarn. She picked a beautiful blue ombre, and a seafoam green ombre yarn. The resulting blanket was gorgeous.

I found that once I figured out how to create the stitch needed to make the blanket, I was able to do it without much thought and before I knew it, it was done. So, how do you make a corner to corner?

The first thing you need to do is create a chain of 6. (This first chain is important because you will continue to create this chain every time you wish to increase your work.) Now you will double crochet (DC) into the 4th chain from your hook and each chain until you reach the knot, which will give you a chain 3 loop and 3 DC.

The next step is to chain 6, DC into the 4th chain from the hook and into the next 2 chains as well. Now you will slip stitch into the chain 3 loop from the previous round. Chain 3 and make 3 DC all into the chain 3 loop from the previous round. You should now have 2 clusters made on this row, and 3 altogether.

You will continue to increase until you have reached the width that you want.

To decrease, you will need to slip stitch up the side of the last cluster to get back to the chain 3 loop. Then you will chain 3 and create 3DC, slip stitch into the next chain 3 loop and create your next cluster. You will continue to do this until you reach the last cluster. When you finish the last cluster you will tie off your yarn.

At this point you have the option to create a border if you want. In the first blanket I made, I did a large shell stitch border. I will create a video for that at a later date.

I created a video tutorial as well for anyone who needs a visual:
